Bowling in Boulder, Colorado

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

In 2012 I plan to restart my computer programming company, Valley Programming, here in the Boulder, Colorado area, but until then I’ve been working on some personal programming projects, and also taking a little time off for things like, well, bowling:

That 233 score is one of my highest scores ever, but beginning that game with six consecutive strikes is something I’ve never done before, so I’m pretty happy today. :)

Blizzard/whiteout in Boulder, Colorado

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

I’m writing this post on December 3, 2011, and again today we’re having another blizzard/whiteout here in Boulder, Colorado:

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll just leave it at that (other than to say that you should be able to see the Rocky Mountains in the background of that photo).

Boulder, Colorado mountains

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

As a new resident of the Boulder, Colorado area, I’ve quickly grown to love the views of the Rocky Mountains from here. Without much introduction, here’s one view of the mountains during the day:

And here’s a second view of the mountains near Boulder, this time at sunset in late November, 2011:

Both of these photos were taken from my apartment, which, as you can see, has a pretty incredible view of the Rocky Mountains. :)

Boulder, Colorado business analyst consultant

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

I just mentioned this in my last blog post here, but if you have a company in the Boulder area, please check out my Boulder, Colorado business analyst consultant page. Over there, I’ve tried to describe a) what a Business Analyst is, b) what sort of documents (artifacts) business analysts create, and c) my own experience as a business analyst.

For more information on “business analysis”, I recommend visiting the International Institute of Business Analysis website. I worked as a business analyst many years before the IIBA was founded, but I think they’ve done a great job in sharing information about the business analyst profession.

As usual, Wikipedia also does a nice job of defining the role of business analyst.

Reporting live from Boulder, Colorado (where we just had a beautiful snow storm yesterday), this is Alvin Alexander.

Valley Programming blog (Boulder, Colorado)

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Just another quick note here that when I moved from Alaska to the Boulder, Colorado area, I also moved my company, Valley Programming, with me. The town of Boulder also happens to be in a valley (the Boulder valley), so the name still fits, which makes me pretty happy.

While I tend to write a lot of small, personal notes over here, my blog on the Valley Programming website tends to be a lot more about computer programming, software requirements, software testing, and business analysis in the Boulder, Colorado area.

Getting back to personal stuff on this blog, here are a few links to great resources about the Boulder, Colorado area:

Finally, if you’re ever in the Boulder area, and need a business analyst, check out my Boulder, Colorado business analyst consulting services page.

    Balloons in Broomfield, Colorado

    Saturday, November 5th, 2011

When I first moved to Colorado in October, 2011, I first landed in the Denver Tech Center (referred to here as the DTC), then moved to Broomfield, Colorado. One morning in Broomfield in October, I came around a corner and saw the sky filled with balloons. Here’s what a few of them looked like:
